Speakers Bureau

Youth are at very high risk for contracting HIV. One in four of new HIV infections are individuals between the ages of 13 to 24. About one third of high schools students are sexually active. About half of them do not use condoms, and only 13% of them have been tested for HIV.

Since 1993, Face to Face has been providing HIV prevention education to approximately more than 1,000 Sonoma County students free of charge. An integral component of the Speakers Bureau is encouragement to visit Face to Face and to get tested.

Our speakers would love to visit your school! We will send two speakers who will make grade-level appropriate presentations to fit into your time allotment.

Our health educator covers the basics–teaching students about HIV and how transmission can be prevented. Our HIV-positive speakers  connect with the students on an emotional level, helping to get their message across in a way that informs, inspires, enlightens and reduces the stigma surrounding HIV/AIDS.

The Speakers’ Bureau is made possible in part to a grant from Sonoma Wine Country Weekend. Face to Face presents the program to students in Santa Rosa, thanks in part to support from the Ernest L. and Ruth W. Finley Foundation.
