What is overamping?
Overamping is when the effects of a stimulant become too intense, causing overwhelm, distress, or danger. This is different from overdose, as it is not always caused by using too much of a substance. Overdosing on stimulants is possible, and distinct from other kinds of overdose. Overamping, conversely, is a bad mental experience but usually isn’t life-threatening.
Factors that can contribute to overamping include: a lack of sleep, dehydration or hunger, stress, being in an unsafe environment, taking a higher dose than usual, or mixing substances.
Some tips for overamping prevention are to sleep, take breaks, stay hydrated and eat, reduce substance mixing, lower the dose if using in a new location, and to pay attention to dose amount.
