Alan Beckstead has an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineer from the University of Texas – Austin and an MBA from the University of Houston. His 40-year technical career took him to both coasts and the Midwest. Living in various parts of the country helped grow his passion for arts that resulted in an extensive art collection. Most of his work is based up the San Francisco LGBTQ Pride Parade over a number of years. While no parade was held in 2020 due to COVID, he has 1000s of photographs from past parades that he uses to find painting subjects. He tries to capture the fun, joy, frustration and sadness in the parade goers. He is currently on the Art Collection Advisory Board for the University of Texas San Antonio; and on the Board of Directors for the Sebastopol Center for the Arts and the Sebastopol Area Senior Center.
