We are in an insect apocalypse. I have spent the last 2 years on a series of mezzotints w/ watercolor of particularly beautiful, endangered insects, also part of an artist book entitled "Vanishing". The Red-winged Grasshopper is from that series. I was pleased, while working on this series, to discover the work of British artist Andrew Tyzack who has documented every species of bee in the UK with a tiny mezzotint.
