What is consent? A lesson from our sexual health education curriculum currently being presented at schools throughout Sonoma County!
Consent is mutual agreement to participate in an activity. We teach that consent is competent, informed, unpressured, specific, ongoing, and affirmative.
Everyone involved should have the capacity to understand, be given all relevant information, and feel uncoerced or threatened. Communication should be clear, continual, and affirmative. Consent is not the absence of a no, but a clear and ongoing “yes”.
Teaching our community about how to support their sexual health is one of the many ways Face to Face provides those we serve with the opportunity to be the healthiest version of themselves.
