I am a watercolor artist living in Sebastopol. I earned my B.A. in Art from UC Santa Barbara and a Secondary Teaching Credential from the University of Southern California. I taught high school art for over 30 years, the last 20 at Healdsburg High School. I have been painting sharp-focus still life for over 40 years and love surprising people by using watercolor in a way that is unexpected. I use transparent watercolor to create precise, sharp-focus still life paintings. I apply thin layers of paint to produce deep, luscious, luminous colors. I endeavor to convey the intimacy I establish with my subjects. My subjects include natural objects as well as pottery, fabrics and glass. The distortions created by looking through glass fascinate me and so abstraction and reality are closely linked in my work. Being fluid, yet able to also see clearly are important skills in our modern world. It is my intent to take the viewer back on a visual journey to a specific moment in time that I have captured or rescued. I am a Signature Member of the California Watercolor Association and Watercolor West and represented by Graton Gallery and Corrick’s/MDTF Gallery in Santa Rosa. CA. My husband Neil and I, own My Daughter the Framer and I am the Board President of the Sebastopol Center for the Arts. I was selected as one of the Best of Watercolor Artists, Top 100 in Splash 2024 presented by Artists Magazine and American Artist and recently included in Splash 2027 top 150.
