Sterling Hoffmann is a painter whose work reflects a lifelong fascination with light, color, and the subtleties of natural forms. From early inspiration visiting Carmel-by-the-Sea and discovering LeRoy Neiman’s watercolors, Sterling has pursued a career capturing landscapes, seascapes, and the essence of his surroundings. His work is shown at Carmel Fine Art Gallery and he has competed in the Carmel Art Festival for over 15 years. Over his career, Sterling has received numerous awards including Best of Show at Estes Park Plein Air, People’s Choice at Shelter Cove, and the Mayor’s Choice at Carmel Art Festival. He has been featured in Fine Art Connoisseur, Plein Air Magazine, and American Art Collector, and continues to explore light, atmosphere, and the fleeting moments of California landscapes. Among his mentors he credits: Alice Carter, Sheldon Borenstein, Barron Story, John Clapp, Camille Przewotek and Craig Nelson.
